Sequoia's Spirit of Hospitality Print E-mail

“This place certainly reeks of hospitality and good cheer, or maybe it's this cheese.”

--Jean Harlowredroses

When Nello and Danica Olivo set out to create Sequoia, they envisioned more than a restaurant. They envisioned a gathering place where good food and fine beverages would accompany celebration and festivity as well as quiet conversation among cordial friends. A place where crossing the threshold would transport guests to an era sometime passed, when to make a stranger feel at home was a cultured art.

Everything about Sequoia says "Welcome." Your first visit will tell. This beautiful Victorian era mansion sits off the "beaten path" in a setting of towering sequoia trees, climbing roses and honeysuckle, shaded lawns and a small pond.

When you enter the front door, you'll find yourself in a space that says, "Make yourself at home." In spite of sumptuos surroundings, floral carpets, authentic antique furnishings and jeweled windows, here at Sequoia, the air is never  too uppity or grandiose.

If you come for a meal, it will be an unhurried affair. You'll want to relax and linger. There's a variety of seating options. Seating in the Main Dining Room is clustered around the original 1853 fireplace. Through the stunning wisteria blooms of the stained glass window, you can peer into the tree shaded outdoorchefKitchen Patio.  From the Entrance Hall, you will find the Main Bar with its historic fireplace, elaborate mirrored-back bar, and leaded cut-glass window. Or you might be seated on the spacious Veranda.  Here on a warm summer evening you can enjoy a view over the activity of Bee Street just beyond the herb garden, as the soft water playing from the fountains mingles with the chatter and bustle of those gathering for their special event in the Empire Ballroom.

When you arrive for a special event, you'll find Sequoia's staff has everything prepared and the welcome mat out for you and your guests. If the occasion is one you are hosting, we know the art of working hard in the background and making you the good host.

At the end of the day, it is respect and friendly attentiveness to detail that wins the appreciation of Sequoia's visitors. Starting the moment you walk through our door, your comfort and enjoyment are our pleasure.
